Attempt to nab Ingles shoplifter fails

Knox County Sheriff’s Office responded to Ingles grocery in Farragut after receiving a call that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle in the parking lot.

KCSO officer Wesley Coleman was dispatched to the scene and spoke to Ingles store manager James Meschendorf and the victim, Emory Douglas, Farragut Ingles’s loss prevention officer.

The pair told Coleman that they “observed the suspect shoplifting a buggy full of groceries and then push the buggy to the parking lot” — several similar incidents have been reported at the local grocery over the past few weeks. The latest was reported July 7.
