• Nick Williams, rising sophomore pitcher at The University of Tennessee and former All-state Farragut Admiral, has earned an all-star bid in Northeastern Collegiate Baseball League this summer. A key member of Tennessee's bullpen during his freshman season, Williams has been used primarily as a starter for the Danbury Westerners. In seven total appearances, including six starts, Williams is 4-1 with a 3.62 ERA, 39 strikeouts and just 19 walks in 32.1 innings. His win total ranks second in the league, while his strikeout total places him fourth. The 18th annual NECBL All-Star Game was held Wednesday, July 27, at Fraser Field in Lynn, Mass.

• Webb School of Knoxville baseball players named to Division II-A East/Middle All-Region Team for the 2011 season, during which the Spartans finished as state runner-up, were 2011 graduates Parker Wormsley, Brennan Liu, KJ Parent and Kyle King, and Class of 2012’s Joe Hall. Spartans named to Division II-A East/Middle All-Region Tournament Team were Wormsley, named Most Valuable Player; Liu, Parent and Class of 2012’s Jim Dolinak.
