Hear ye, hear ye ...

Virginia “Ginger” and Jeff Cannon, center, listen as Farragut Mayor Ralph McGill reads a proclamation declaring Saturday, July 23, as Dixie Lee Farmers Market Day in the town of Farragut. Market “town crier” and Fox Den resident Steve Irving, left, rang the market triangle to start the reading. Dixie Lee Farmers Market is an open air market located at the Renaissance | Farragut, 12740 Kingston Pike, just east of Watt Road off Kingston Pike. According to Ginger, the market’s sole purpose is to strengthen the community by providing area residents a place to buy local, top quality fresh produce directly from the persons who grew it. In doing this, she says, the market provides an opportunity to local farmers, gardeners and craftspersons to promote their products. Ginger adds the market would not exist without the support of Renaissance | Farragut developers Knick and Noah Myers.
