• July 21: A Butternut Circle resident called Knox County Sheriff’s Office claiming someone entered her house between 6 and 6:50 a.m. through the locked front door without using force. The suspect then entered the homeowners’ bedroom and took $5,200 from her husband’s pants pocket. A pair of tennis shoes, not belonging to the residents, was found in the upstairs hallway near the bedroom from which the money was taken. The complainant stated that all doors in the house were locked. The complainant suspects the intruder had a key.

• July 20: A Sundown Road resident reported to police that Suntrust Bank notified him his checking account was “flagged” due to a check of insufficient funds. The complainant stated Suntrust advised him an unknown person used his checking account routing numbers to purchase an item from hhgregg appliance and electronics store totaling $1,925.96.


• July 18: A Crystal Brook Lane resident reported to police an unknown suspect took her wallet while she was shopping in Marshalls department store off Parkside Drive. The complainant stated she did not realize her wallet was missing until she was leaving the store.

• July 15: A Clay Street woman was arrested after a loss prevention officer at Kroger Marketplace advised police he observed the arrestee place several cosmetic items, valued at about $17, in her purse in an attempt to conceal them. The complainant stated the arrestee made her way to the front of the store, then exited without paying for the items. The defendant was cited for a misdemeanor: theft by shoplifting under $500.
