Hicks, Pharr engaged
Paul and Keri Hicks of Horseshoe Bay, Texas, announce the engagement and the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Katherine Mackenzie, to George Mathews Pharr V, son of George and Marilyn Pharr IV.

She is the granddaughter of the late Talmage and Rebecca Hicks of Austin, Texas, and Kenneth and Annabelle Wilkes of Hurst, Texas.

He is the grandson of the late George and Patricia Pharr of Cincinnati, Ohio, and the late David and Mary Walker of Maryville.

The bride-elect, is a 2004 graduate of The Woodlands High School in The Woodlands, Texas and a 2008 graduate of Rice University, Houston, Texas. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in history and religious studies. She graduated with a JD from Harvard Law School in May.

She will work as a lawyer for WilmerHale in Boston starting in the fall.

The groom elect, is a 2004 graduate of Farragut High School and a 2008 graduate of Rice University. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering and a Bachelor of Arts degree in materials science. He currently is working toward a PhD at Harvard university School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.

The wedding ceremony will begin at 7 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 6, at Thurman's Mansion, Driftwood, Texas.

The couple will honeymoon in Costa Rica and reside in Cambridge, Mass.
