West Knox Girls High School Soccer Preview

Two Westside girls soccer teams have the talent, and recent years pedigree, to expect another serious run at state championship glory in 2011. The other four return ample talent, including a state semifinalist, leading to these questions about the upcoming season: Does Bearden have enough firepower up top to seriously contend for the programís third Class AAA state crown since 2006? Does Farragut have the talent to seriously push Bearden for District 4-AAA and Region 2-AAA honors? Will Hardin Valley Academy have enough scoring punch to go with its otherwise experienced starting unit? Knoxville Catholic seems to have enough firepower for a return to state, but can the Lady Irish fill in enough holes to help its firepower translate into another successful season? For CAK, the annual question seems simple: go all the way or come up a little short in Chattanooga? Last year was a little short, but plenty of talent returns attempting to win the programís fourth state title since 2006. For Webb School of Knoxville, balance and talent havenít been this plentiful in many years according to head coach Jennifer Longnecker. One downer across the board is the injury front, as a couple of teams have lost star talent to season-ending injuries. What follows is a detailed preview of all six teams.
