Town awards ‘beautiful’ businesses

Farragut recognized its most beautiful developments at a Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting Thursday, July 28.

The 28th annual Beautification Awards recognize developments around the Town for landscape design, plant selection, maintenance and “first and last impressions.” Farragut’s Beautification Committee recognized six buildings and one subdivision entrance for their high scores:

• Religious Institution — St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 645 St. John Court

“This site was selected for the beautiful choice of flowering trees, shrubs and ground cover adjacent to the church building,” said Beautification Committee chair Clare Ansink.

• Commercial or Office Building — Y-12 Federal Credit Union, 13128 Kingston Pike

“This site was chosen for its immaculate maintenance, lively plant material and the use of color within the landscaping,” Ansink said.

• Residential Entrance — The Battery at Berkeley Park, St. George Parish Drive

According to Ansink, “This site was chosen for its beautiful brick entrance, complete with a fountain, and a multitude of flowering plants, as well as the impeccably landscaped center islands that run down the center of the main drive.”

• Retail Commercial Complex — Pinnacle at Turkey Creek Phase III, Parkside Drive

“This site was chosen for its extensive, colorful ... landscape within a commercial development, as well as the immaculate maintenance of the property,” Ansink said.

• Commercial or Retail Building — Buddy’s BBQ, 121 West End Ave.

“This site was selected for its beautiful use of color and immaculate maintenance,” Ansink said.

• Multi-Family Residential Complex — Parkview Senior Living, 10914 Kingston Pike

According to Ansink, “This site was selected for its appealing entrance and grounds, including beautiful container gardens in the central courtyard, complete with sculpture.”

“Congratulations, once again, to this year’s Beautification Award recipients,” she added.
