FBA executive director search begins

Farragut Business Alliance now is accepting applications for its first employee, an executive director.

According to FBA president David Purvis, applicants should meet five main search criteria. Applicants should:

• Have a college education or equivalent experience

• Have relevant experience in sales and/or marketing

• Preferably be a town of Farragut resident

• Have basic familiarity and proficiency with common computer and web programs

• Be a self-starter

The position has a proposed $30,000 salary and would be defined as a contract employee position.

“There are no hours stipulated,” Purvis said.

“It’s a contract to perform the job,” he added.

The job would include coordination and promotion of Business Alliance’s special events, including Taste of Farragut, Art in the Park and Red, White & Blues; promoting Farragut Business Alliance membership; acting as a liaison between the Town and business owners, and being responsible for tourism and economic development initiatives for Farragut.

The executive director also would oversee the “Shop Farragut” campaign, which is a task being reassigned from Town staff to FBA.

The position is funded by a grant from the town of Farragut, so the executive director would be working closely with Town staff and would be subject to a contract and performance measures from Farragut, Purvis said.

Those performance measures and contract have not been finalized, he added.
