Lady Ads blank Siegel

Led by two goals from forward/midfielder Skylar Brewer, and one goal each from Lilly Moore and Blair Rhodes, head coach Dennis Lindsay’s Farragut Lady Admirals blanked Siegel 4-0 Aug. 26 at Farragut Intermediate School.

Volleyball strong early

With a strong showing during its annual Early Bird Tournament Saturday, Aug. 27, Farragut’s highly experienced Lady Admirals volleyball team opened its season with a 5-0 mark during the annual KIL Tournament, held at FHS and Bearden Aug. 22-23.

Bates a Landry honoree

Bill Bates, former All-state Farragut Admiral football honoree (Class of 1979) and ex-Tennessee Vols defensive back (1979-1982), has earned the Tom Landry Award for his work as a Dallas Cowboys special teams player/defensive back in the 1980s and early 1990s.

Smith an ND captain

Harrison Smith, former Knoxville Catholic football and track and field star now a senior starting defensive back for Notre Dame, has been named a Fighting Irish captain for 2011.

Hawks edge CAK

Led by 37s fired by Hunter Arnold and Graham Gosselin, and a 38 from Tyler Johnson, Hardin Valley Academy’s boys golfers beat Christian Academy of Knoxville 154-162 Wednesday, Aug. 24, at Tennessee National near Loudon despite a 35 fired by Warrior Kory Webb.

Three teams prevail

While the state’s No. 2-ranked Christian Academy of Knoxville football team (Class 3A) rolled to an impressive win out of state last week, Knoxville Catholic remained the only other undefeated Westside team (both 2-0) and Bearden won for the first time this season — all after two weeks of action.
