Lady Ads rally, tie

Joanda Parchman's goal with 37.7 seconds left, capping a two-goal rally in the final three minutes, lifted No. 9 Class AAA state-ranked Farragut (4-0-2) to a 4-4 tie against No. 1 Houston (5-1-1) in Bearden Invitational at BHS Sunday, Sept. 4.

HVA, Lady Dawgs win

Hardin Valley Academy girls soccer (4-0-2) beat Maryville 2-0 and Cleveland 3-0, while No. 5 state-ranked Bearden improved to 5-0-1 after wins against Germantown (1-0) and Karns (4-0) during BHS Invitational.

CAK, Catholic roll

Christian Academy of Knoxville, the state's top-ranked Class A/AA girls soccer team (3-0-1), defeated Houston, top-ranked in Class AAA, 1-0, while Knoxville Catholic picked up its first win (1-2-2), beating Germantown 3-1 during Bearden Invitational play.

Volleyball Ads No. 2

Including a straight-game win against powerful Kingsport Dobyns-Bennett, Farragut Lady Admirals volleyball team improved to 21-2 after a second-place finish in Chattanooga Choo Choo Tournament (7-1) during Labor Day weekend.

FHS freshmen win

Two Curtis Thomas touchdown runs, along with production from quarterback Grant Valeriano, wide receiver Franklin Stooksbury and running back Jeremiah Partin, led Farragut High School's freshmen football team to a 15-12 season-opening victory at Oak Ridge last week.

Nick Reveiz, former Farragut Admiral and Tennessee Vol linebacker, was among 26 Tampa Bay Buccaneers pre-season players cut as NFL teams finalized their 53-man rosters for the 2011 regular season starting this week.
