CAK pair win region

Sophia Schubert, Christian Academy of Knoxville sophomore, was individual Region 2-AA golf champ in Gatlinburg last week while teaming up with sophomore Emery Ward to lead CAK to the region team title and state tournament appearance.



Gilbert on to state

Though Christian Academy of Knoxville’s boys golf team lost the Region 2-AA golf title to Alcoa (314-316) last week in Gatlinburg, CAK junior Greg Gilbert advanced to state with a third-place finish (71).


Simmons honored

Farragut High School administrators honored former Admirals athletic director Dwayne Simmons for eight years of teaching/administrative service (2003-2011), holding a brief ceremony at halftime of the Admirals' varsity football home game versus Kingsport Dobyns-Bennett Friday Aug. 18.



CAK-Alcoa stays Friday

Christian Academy of Knoxville’s final home varsity football game of the 2011, against perennial powerhouse Alcoa, will stay Friday, Oct. 28 (7:30 p.m. start), despite CAK officials briefly considering a move to Thursday, Oct. 27.



CBFO teams unbeaten

Two Knox County Parks and Recreation Metro Youth Football teams representing CBFO were unbeaten entering the week: NFC Hoppers (3-0-1) and Senior Midget High School (3-0).



Town Volleyball champs

Town of Farragut Competitive Volleyball League’s Fall 2011 final regular season standings found Sir Ving and Believe the Hype as co-champions (16-2), while Spikopaths (16-2) took Intermediate regular season honors before Dirty Half Dozen beat Scared Hitless for the Intermediate tourney title crown.



FHS freshmen fall

A touchdown pass from Spencer Ferguson to Franklin Stooksbury and 3-yard Jake Blevins scoring run wasn’t enough in Farragut freshmen football team’s 34-12 loss at West Monday, Sept. 19.
