Kesling to speak at Chamber breakfast

“The Voice of the Vols” will be waking up Farragut West Knox Chamber of Commerce members Thursday, Oct. 18.

Bob Kesling will be speaker at the Chamber’s next Speaker Series Breakfast event, from 7:30 to 9 a.m., Oct. 18, at Fox Den Country Club in Farragut.

“If there’s every anything you wanted to know about the Vols, this is your chance,” Chamber president and CEO Bettye Sisco said.

Tickets are $30 for Chamber members and $40 for guests. Last day to purchase tickets is Friday, Oct. 14. Call 865-675-7057.

“Hurry and make your reservations. Space is limited,” Sisco said. “We’re excited to have him come.”

Sisco said she expects Kesling to speak about UT sports and other motivational topics.

“It ought to be a great event. And it should be a great ‘Q & A’ portion of the program,” Sisco said.

Kesling was named The University of Tennessee director of broadcasting and lead play-by-play voice of the Vol Network in July 1999. He is a four-time winner of Sportscaster of the Year in Tennessee.

But according to Sisco, she most admires Kesling’s community-mindedness.

“I met him at Club LeConte at a kick-off breakfast for the Leukemia Lymphoma Walk the Night program, and he will be serving as the chair of that event,” Sisco said.

Kesling also serves on the board of directors for Goodwill, YMCA and Knoxville Sports Hall of Fame. Each year he hosts a celebrity golf tournament in Greeneville to benefit Boys and Girls Club of Greene Co.

The Chamber matches $1 from each ticket sale for a charity; for this event, Kesling requested the donations go to Camp Kern.
