HVA, BHS rule cross country


Hardin Valley Academy runners Emma Mashburn and Will Templeton won individual honors during KIL Cross Country Championships along Cherokee Boulevard Thursday, Oct. 13.

Mashburn (19:11.1), runner-up Hannah Feiten (19:21.8) and third place Alexis Hewitt (19:57.9) led their Lady Hawks to the girls team title, beating runner-up Bearden (47-65).

Boys team honors went to the Bulldogs despite Templeton (16:02.2), as BHS beat runner-up Hardin Valley 39-57 behind individual No. 2 Bryan Fitzsimmons (16:08.4), sixth-place Skylar Winchester and eighth-place Cory Oegema.

Hardin Valley’s Aaron Templeton was fourth, while HVA’s Daniel Sonnenfeldt took ninth.


Third place Knoxville Catholic (92) was paced by A.C. Cabrera, who took 13th.

Farragut, No. 4 as a boys team (118), was led by No. 10 finisher Will Sallade.

Webb, finishing fifth (127), was paced by Andrew Robinson capturing 14th-place.

Best among other top 10 girls from the Westside included Bearden’s Rebecca Stover (fourth) and No. 7 Olivia Gianeselli.

Leading the FHS Lady Admirals to a third-place team finish (70) was Anna McMichael, fifth-place, and Anna Woodford taking 12th.

Catholic took fourth place among girls teams (74) behind Annie Bacheller’s sixth-place showing and No. 8 Ashley Wellborn.

At 144, fifth-place Webb was led by No. 9 Natalie Ritchie and No. 10 Peighton Meske.
