In remembrance

Dear town of Farragut,

This past week we remembered the passing of Ryan Shoup, the Farragut High School teacher and football coach who died unexpectedly on Oct. 21, 2010.

Through Ryan’s illness, death and over the past year, the Farragut community has been extremely supportive of our family, and we would like to say thank you.

From your thoughts and prayers to your cards and calls to food and gift cards to monetary contributions at football games, Wings Night at Buffalo Wild Wings, and the pancake breakfast at Aubrey’s, and to donations made to the Ryan Shoup Business Scholarship Fund for a Farragut High School senior as well as to a college fund for Ryan’s own children, we are greatly appreciative.

You also honored us by asking our family to serve as the grand marshals of Farragut’s Independence Day parade. We felt privileged to honor our country as well as Ryan in your community’s great tradition.

As a business teacher, football coach and co-sponsor of the Fellow of Christian Athletes, Ryan tried to pass on to students what he thought was important in his own life, including a good education, hard work, financial responsibility, love of family and friends and a strong faith.

Ryan loved the school, the team and the community.

Thank you for allowing him to be a part of your lives and for honoring him with your support of and concern for us.

The town of Farragut, the school, and the team will always hold a special place in our hearts.

We will forever consider ourselves to be Farragut Admirals.

Sincerely,

Shara, Sam and Emma Shoup
