Schools could outsource custodians

• Knox County Schools superintendent Jim McIntyre has recommended outsourcing custodial services to Service Solutions, for a cost of $8.9 million per year, down from an estimated $11.2 million this year, and stated all current KCS custodians who pass background checks would be hired by SS.



Tennova restructures, lays off employees

• Tennova Healthcare, formerly Mercy Health Partners, announced it was restructuring a number of positions, resulting in the loss of about 130 jobs, system-wide, although Tennova said the employees would receive “substantial severance packages.”


EDC member honored

• Ram Suga, member of the Town’s Economic Development Committee, was one of three members of East Tennessee Chapter, Alliance of Hazardous Materials Professionals to be honored at a national awards ceremony.



Haslam takes a look at state wages

• Gov. Bill Haslam is making a push for a salary comparison study to ensure state employees are being paid comparable salaries to their peers in similar lines of work.
