Federal legislators look at online tax law

• Ten U.S. Senators, including two from Tennessee, are pushing legislation that would allow states to collect sales taxes on online purchases from out-of-state retailers.



Traffic camera vendor sues Knoxville

• American Traffic Solutions Inc. filed suit against the City of Knoxville early last week in Knox County Chancery Court, seeking a ruling that a new state law prohibiting citations for illegal right turns on red be ruled unconstitutional or not to affect existing contracts.



Low-cost airline up for sale?

• Frontier Airlines, well known among Knox-area fliers for its inexpensive rates, could be put up for sale by its owner, Republic Airways.



Railroad to hire 500

• Norfolk Southern Corp. plans to hire 500 people in eight states, including Tennessee, by the end of the year.

Endangered Inn for sale

• The Alexander Inn in Oak Ridge, listed on National Register of Historic Places, was placed up for sale last week, for an asking price of $495,000.



“Project Tango” parking approved

• Last week, City of Loudon Planning and Zoning Commission approved parking variances for “Project Tango,” an unidentified industry that could locate in an 89-acre lot in the area.
