Town building roof damage tops $200K

A hailstorm in August caused more than $200,000 in damage to roofs at Farragut Town Hall and park pavilions, Farragut’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen discovered at its meeting Tuesday, Nov. 15.

The Board unanimously approved — with Alderman Bob Markli absent — a contract to Legend Exteriors for $225,843.08 to repair the damage.

That amount will be covered by the Town’s insurance carrier, Tennessee Municipal League. Legend will replace the roofs at Town Hall, on the Dimmick property home and on pavilions at McFee Park, Anchor Park and Mayor Bob Leonard Park.

In other business, the Board:

• Approved a revised drug screen policy for Town employees

The new policy adds opiate and amphetamine derivatives to the screening panel, including Oxycodone.

• Approved, on second reading, an amendment to Farragut Zoning Ordinance to define “medical spa” and allow it in office and commercial zoning districts

• Approved, on second reading, amendments to Farragut Municipal Code regarding beer permit regulations

• Approved, on first reading, an amendment to Farragut Municipal Code to clarify the correct appellate body in regards to identified and platted sinkholes

• Approved, on first reading, an ordinance to the fiscal year 2012 budget to reflect changes made in the Town’s recently altered retirement plans.
