Dustin Colquitt, ex-Bearden High School All-state kicker, currently is ranked 6th in NFL punting (45.6 yard average) through 13 games as a Kansas City Chief.



Bishop rehabbing shoulder

Campbellsville (Ky.) University freshman quarterback Jake Bishop, former Hardin Valley Academy star, currently is rehabilitating a grade 3 AC separation in his right shoulder.



No. 82 for Clabo

Tyson Clabo, former Farragut High School star lineman, made his 82nd career start as an NFL offensive tackle, all with Atlanta, in the Falcons’ win at Carolina Dec. 11.


Ward contributes at MC

Lauren Ward, former FHS girls soccer player, finished her sophomore season as a Maryville College midfielder after earning a Great South Athletic Conference Sportsmanship Award.



Howarth leads Lady Scots

Maryville College sophomore forward Ashley Howarth, following up her BHS girls soccer career, led the Lady Scots (12-3-3) in both goals (13) and assists (12) during the 2011 season.



Fair makes hoops impact

Dion Fair, ex-BHS star point guard, scored 14 points and dished out six assists as a Bryan College (Dayton) freshman despite an 81-68 loss at Maryville College Dec. 7.



Sibley averages 11

Rande Sibley, Maryville College guard and former BHS Bulldog star, averaged 11 points per game (five games, four starts) in helping MC build a 5-3 record.



Bodewig effective at MC

Only a freshman at Maryville College after his career highlights as a Knoxville Catholic post, Joey Bodewig is averaging 6.5 points and five rebounds per game with MC (eight games, two starts).



Redshirt for Watson

Starting 11 games his freshman season with Tennessee-Chattanooga men’s basketball, junior forward Sam Watson, former FHS center, is redshirting during the Mocs’ 2011-12 season.



Wrestling schedules

-FHS wrestling team travels to Stone Memorial High School, Crossville, for a tournament beginning at 8 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 15.

-Hardin Valley Academy wrestling hosts Bearden and Austin-East starting at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 15, before traveling to North Carolina for North Henderson Duals Saturday, Dec. 17.

-After its dual match at HVA with the Hawks and Austin-East, Bearden wrestling team travels to Knoxville Central Christmas Clash tournament beginning at 8 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 17.

-Farragut girls and boys at home versus Knoxville Catholic,* Friday, Dec. 16; home versus Loudon, Tuesday, Dec. 20; home versus Fulton, Wednesday, Dec. 21.

-Hardin Valley Academy girls and boys at Karns,* Dec. 16.

-Bearden girls and boys at West* Dec. 16.
