Farragut Hallmark has new owner

Farragut’s Hallmark location is under new ownership.

Linda and Al Underwood bought the Village Green landmark store from Charlotte and Don Dickerson, who were looking to retire.

Linda, who oversees day-to-day operations at the store, said she’s made a few changes since buying the business in August.

“One big difference in the store now is that, yes, we have Hallmark products. We have all the same products that were carried by Lisa’s Hallmark, but the non-Hallmark gift items are what we’ve expanded,” Linda said.

“We have an expanded gift selection with party supplies, garden and house flags, Jim Shore collectible and home décor items,” she added.

But one thing that hasn’t changed from Lisa’s Hallmark — named for the Dickerson’s daughter — and Linda’s Hallmark is the staff.

“Most of the staff from Lisa’s Hallmark remained with us, but we also brought our staff from a Cedar Bluff location that we closed,” Linda said.

“Many of our Cedar Bluff customers are now coming to the Farragut store, and we wanted them to see familiar faces. But we wanted the former Lisa’s customers to feel comfortable with the staff, too,” she added.

The Underwoods have closed their Cedar Bluff Hallmark location but still own a Hallmark in the Gallery Shopping Center, which is celebrating its 27th year being open.

Linda said the Farragut store was a desirable location, which is why she opted to close the Cedar Bluff store, which had been open 18 years.

“This store is much larger. It was an opportunity to take over what had been a very well respected and successful store, and keep that momentum going, and also to hang onto our customers from the Cedar Bluff location,” Linda said.
