Bradley named top state coach

Rusty Bradley, CAK football head coach who led the Warriors to the Class 3A state title, recently was named Class AA Coach of the Year in Tennessee



Private school signings

Marjorie Butler, Webb School of Knoxville girls basketball senior guard, signed with University of Georgia, Wednesday, Nov. 9, in Webb's Lee Athletic Center.

Senior Ryan Nelson, Knoxville Catholic High School baseball third baseman/pitcher, signed to play Division I baseball at Quinnipiac University, Hamden, Conn., during a Wednesday, Nov. 9

Webb senior Megan Hatcher announced her committment to play volleyball at The University of Tennessee Sept. 30.

Catholic seniors Miranda Beeler, a left fielder, and Carolyn Williamson, a centerfielder, signed with Tusculum College, an NCAA Division I school in Greeneville, Nov. 16.

Brian Carman, Webb senior tennis player, signed with Xavier University, an NCAA Division I school in Cincinnati, Ohio, Thursday, Nov. 10.


Youth fall titles

CBFO 8-and-under Hoppers football team finished its 2011 season undefeated with a 10-0 record, winning Knoxville Metro Youth Football League championship game.

Webb Middle School Lady Spartans volleyball A team captured 2011 Fall Bash Middle School Tournament at Farragut High School.

FC Alliance 98 Black boys soccer team reclaimed the state title, winning Division 1, U14 Tennessee State Championship in November.

Farragut Dirt Dobbers 10-and-under team went 5-0 in winning Cumberland Mountain Blast ISA Girls Fastpitch Softball Tournament last fall.



High school hoops rundown

FHS boys basketball won two of three games in Monticello Banking Classic, Wayne County (Ky.) High School, last week, crushing Monticello 76-22 and beating South Laurel (Ky.) 66-56.



HVA girls basketball team capped off its play in Beech Holiday Tournament, Hendersonville, with a 49-30 victory against East Literature Friday, Dec. 30.



Bearden girls basketball team entered the new year 11-2 overall, and a perfect 4-0 in District 4-AAA.



Hockey schedules





KAHA High School teams off until Thursday night, Jan. 12: Farragut versus Bearden/Karns starting at 7:40 in the Icearium; Warriors versus Whalers, 9:10 p.m.

FHS wrestling team at Chattanooga Central tournament Saturday, Jan. 7.

Hardin Valley Academy wrestling at Stone Memorial versus Stone and Cookeville, 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 5; versus Seymour, Gibbs at Webb Tuesday, Jan. 10.

Bearden wrestling team at William Blount Duals, Friday, Jan. 6; at William Blount Invitiational, Jan. 7; hosting Karns and West, 5:30 p.m., Jan. 10.
