• WOOD, Nyle Leroy,
age 57, of Knoxville, formerly of Memphis, passed away early Friday morning, January 18, 2013 at his home. Nyle was a member of Concord United Methodist Church. He was born in Memphis and graduated from Memphis State University. From an early age, he was involved in music. He played in bands and later was employed with Clair Brothers Audio and toured all over the world with many well-known artists. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, hiking and other outdoor activities. He was a member of I.A.T.S.E. Union Local 197. Nyle was preceded in death by his parents, John and Wandaleen Wood; stepmother, Kathrine Wood. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Julia Haston Wood; sons, Dylan Taylor Wood and Shelby Aaron Wood; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Donna Wood of Southaven, Mississippi and their daughter, Sarah; stepsister Joyce Bryant of Spring, Texas and stepbrother Hal Ferrell of Batesville, Mississippi. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:45 p.m. on Sunday at Concord United Methodist Church with a Celebration of Life to follow at 4 p.m. with Rev. Brent Hall officiating. • THOMPSON, Michael David (Mike),
age 62, of Knoxville, TN, fomerly of Winchester, IN, passed away late Saturday evening, January 19th, 2013 at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Barbara Thompson, Winchester, IN. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Cynthia Thompson; children, Mark Ramsey (Carmen), Canton, GA, Dawn Johnson (Derrick), Nashville, TN, Melinda Grimes, Jasper, GA, Anthony Thompson (Cristina), Bellingham, WA, Matthew Ramsey (Jennifer), Lakeland, Fl, Nicholas Thompson (Michelle), Fort Wayne, IN; twelve grandchildren, Miranda Blansett, Morgan Blansett, Melody Blansett, Megan Blansett, Riley Grimes, Allyson Grimes, Natalie Grimes, Jamison Ramsey, Tyler Ramsey, Elijah Johnson, Quinn Thompson and Caleb Thompson and one great granddaughter, Jayda Hondras; brother, Craig Thompson, Greenville, SC; nephew, Brian Thompson, niece, Caroline Thompson and loving friends John, Pam, Kaitlyn and Carolyn Huppmann. • SIMPSON, Thomas Leon (Tom),
age 71 of Knoxville, born August 19, 1941, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2013. Tom was a veteran and proud of his service as a member of the 101st Airborne. He retired from Rohm & Haas after 40 years of service. Tom will be joining in Heaven, his parents, Vance Simpson and Marie Owens Simpson. He is survived by wife of 50 years, Barbara Simpson; daughters, Angie and Rhonda; grandchildren, Tommy (wife, Leslie), Ashley, Dylan, Paige, Brandon and Vance; great-granddaughters, Eden, Ava and Casey; sister, Joy and sister-in-law, Carol. • HALL, Janice Henry,
age 71, of Concord passed away to be with her Heavenly Father on January 17, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Janice was an avid gardener and loved flowers. Janice was a member of Virtue Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She owned school buses for many years and was the founder and first president of the Knox County Bus Owner’s Association. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer Henry and Louise Long Henry; brother, Bill Henry; and nephew Brian Henry. She is survived by her faithful husband of 52 years, Ralph Hall.; children and spouses Dana and Cindy Hall all of Kingston, Malecia and Mark Lively of Knoxville, Susan and Lytle Rather and Brad and Pam Hall of Knoxville; grandchildren, Caleb and Bethany Hall, Bryant and Jennie Lively, Callie, Sarah and Alexander Rather, Taylor and Abbie Hall; brother and sister-in-law Ralph and Mary Henry of Knoxville; and several nieces and nephews. A very heartfelt thank you goes to her Amedisys hospice team of Brenda, Ashley and Kellie. Special thanks also to in-home caregivers Janice Fine, Gloria Johnson, Traci Borden and Cayla Roberts who made it possible to keep Janice at home.
