Coming up Roses, in 3-state region, during UT’s TRS Convention/Show

Tennessee Rose Society will celebrate its 77th anniversary this year by hosting the 2023 Tennessee, Arkansas, Kentucky District Convention and Rose Show from 1 to 5 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 16, on the University of Tennessee Agriculture campus.

“As the date for the 2023 TENARKY District Rose Show draws closer, excitement is building,” said Mary Bates, Farragut resident and TENARKY District Rose Show publicity chair. “Everyone is working hard to make this an enjoyable event for all TENARKY members and all those who just love roses.”

“We would like to invite everyone to attend this exciting rose show,” said Lori Emery, TENARKY District director and Rose Show chair. “There will be roses from all parts of the TENARKY District and surrounding states. Each rose will be labeled so you can select your favorite rose to add to your garden.

“Our Rose Show will honor Dr. Mark Windham for his love of the rose and many years of dedicated service to all the TENARKY Rose societies,” she added. “The entire rose industry has benefitted from Dr. Windham’s rose research in the fight against rose rosette. We are all so appreciative” of him.

“Tennessee was very active in the early beginnings of the American Rose Society, and especially Knoxville.” stated Kathy Brennan, 2023 TENARKY District Convention Chair.

“Paul Zimmerman will be our special guest during the rose show from 1 to 3 p.m. and will be available for everyone to meet and greet and will have copies of his book, ‘Everyday Roses’ to sign for us,” Brennan added. “Paul has years of experience growing roses to share with us and has a refreshing philosophy regarding growing roses.

“We hope everyone will mark their calendars for this special event.” Anyone having roses they wish to enter may visit www.tenarky.org for more information.
