Lunch Bunch a monthly Concord/Farragut fellowship

A group of Farragut and Concord area residents gather monthly to make dining out a special occasion.

Calling themselves the Lunch Bunch, the group of about 15 to 20 meet once a month — around noon on the second Wednesday — at a different restaurant in their community.

Most recently, they dined at Mimi’s Café, Parkside Drive, Nov. 8, and plan to eat at Chesapeake’s Wednesday, Dec. 13, in Turkey Creek. Next up is lunch at Conner’s Steak & Seafood Jan. 10.

“We vote on a location,” one of the founders, Linda Lewis, said. “We only go to restaurants in the Farragut area.

“It’s so interesting when you see the plates of food brought in,” Lewis added. “The menu just comes alive. The restaurant just explodes with the dishes (because) the staff makes a big hoopla out of it” for the group.

Besides having fun, “we want to support the restaurants in our area,” she said.

Lewis said the group is comprised of all ages and genders.

“There are no dues,” she said. “Each person simply buys his or her own food.”

The idea for the Lunch Bunch started with Lewis and Linda Walker, who observed restaurants having such a hard time during COVID.

“I asked ‘why don’t we start a Lunch Bunch?’” Walker said. “‘Sure, count me in,’” Lewis recalled saying.

Their first stop was First Watch. Then they met a couple more people who joined in, and then a couple more. From word of mouth, the group grew.

“Everyone has a good time,” Lewis said.
