Instruments, sheet music, lessons as Lane Music moves near Town

Lane Music has opened near Farragut, providing musical instruments, sheet music, lessons and more at 10910 Kingston Pike, Suite 107.

“We do a little bit of everything,” said Logan Paul, store manager. “We’re the only full-line music store in the Knoxville area.”

It sells acoustic pianos, high-end acoustic and electric guitars and is an exclusive dealer for a few different brands.

The company touts itself as the largest Kawai piano dealer in the state and provides band instrument rentals for schools and individuals.

“We do lessons as well,” Paul said. “We have a few different teachers.

“We have two that (teach) piano specifically, two different styles — traditional and modern,” he added. “The other two teachers both mainly do guitar and bass. One of our guitar/bass teachers (a retired U.S. Army veteran) also teaches all the folk instruments — mandolin, dulcimer — and he does trumpet as well.”

Paul explained the teachers are private, so they rent the space from Lane Music.

Customers can get in touch with them through the store’s website or from business cards at the store.

Lane Music also carries sheet music and provides lesson books and school band books. “It’s a fun environment,” Paul said. “We’re all musicians, so it’s fun to get to talk about our passion and share it with other people … get young people involved with music, as well as getting older people back into it and getting people the dream instrument they always wanted.”

The store originally opened in Memphis in the 1980s but moved to Franklin Square in 2012. It again moved to the old Italian Market and Grill, also in Franklin Square, before moving the first week of March near Farragut.

“We’re closer for a lot of our customers, which his nice,” Paul said.

The decision to move closer to Farragut was that of the owners, Scott and Pook Lane.

Paul said their newest store location was more affordable and “they liked the openness and brightness of the space compared to the old space.”

The store is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday. It is closed Sunday.
