• WATT, Robert Patterson “Bob,”

age 76, of Farragut died on Tuesday evening, May 20, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family. Bob was a member of Concord United Methodist Church, where he served as an usher for many years. Bob enjoyed woodcarving, reading, gardening and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Bob attended Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Fla. He married Betty Huff in 1961 and they moved to Florida for three years. They returned to the Concord area in 1964 and Bob established Lovell Heights Barber Shop in 1967. He was the proprietor until 2002 when he sold the shop, but continued to work until his retirement in 2005. He served as Alderman for the town of Farragut from 1993 until 1997 and during the last two years of his term, he served as vice mayor. He also served on the Farragut Parks and Recreation Committee for many years. Bob helped establish the Farragut Youth Fishing Rodeo and loved to watch children as they fished with their families. The Fishing Rodeo will celebrate 30 years in 2014. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Dorothy Wise Watt; sister, Mary Sam Ward. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Betty; children and spouses, Rick and Sonya Watt of Crestview, Fla., Rachel and Alan David of Cleveland, Janee and John Cates of Southern Pines, N.C., Chuck Watt of Knoxville; grandchildren, Jacob Watt, Jackson Watt, Bailey (Matthew) Rogers, Beau David, Rob David, Brice Cates and Robert Cates; special brother-in-law, Butch Woodward; sister, Dottie Vining; brother, Earl Watt, both of Lenoir City; nephew, Bryan (Mitzi) Watt. A Celebration of Life will be held at 6 p.m., Tuesday, May 27, at Concord United Methodist Church with the Rev. Brent Hall officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. • SAVELL, Dean,

age 55, of Farragut, formerly of Asheville, N.C., and Winston-Salem, N.C., died suddenly in a motorcycle accident on Monday afternoon May 12, 2014. Dean was a member of First Baptist Concord and the Buddy Bradley Sunday School class. He was a dynamic Christian and often said, “Jesus calls me friend.” Dean was a hero to his wife of 30 years and outstanding father to his three sons. He was a dedicated son, brother and friend. Everyone knows he had a most infectious laugh. Dean was currently employed by Rite Aid as a manager and was previously employed by Clayton Homes for over 15 years. Dean is survived by his wife, Sue Sibley Savell; sons, Zach, Sam and Robert Savell of the home; parents, Rev. Harold A. Savell and Willie Ruth Savell of Asheville, N.C.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Brenda and David Booth of Knoxville, Cindy and Bobby Lineback of Charlotte, N.C.; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Robin Savell of Greer, S.C.; mother-in-law, Betty Sibley of Brevard, N.C.; brother-in-law, Scott Sibley and wife, Rebecca of Dalton, Ga.; and many precious nieces and nephews. of Pittsburgh, Pa., formerly of Knoxville, on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014. Beloved wife of the late Donald R. Lewis; loving mother of Christopher Lewis and Amber Lewis; sister of Estelle Eleftheriou; aunt of Nicholas Eleftheriou and Chrisanne Burr. Erma was a graduate of Carnegie Mellow University and enjoyed needlepoint and pottery. She was a member of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church, Pittsburgh. • BILLINGSLEY, Jimmy Carlysle “Jim,”

81, of Knoxville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 25, 2014. Born July 26, 1932 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma to Carlysle Byron and Vera Jane Billingsley, he served in the 868th Field Artillery Battalion during the Korean War. He married his beloved wife Jo on July 3, 1952, shortly before his induction into the Army. He received a Bachelor of Arts from Tulsa University in 1958, and worked at the University of Tennessee Press for 20 years as Design & Production Director. He retired from the Texas A&M University Press in 1992, returning to Knoxville with Jo so they could be near their children and grandchildren. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and was happiest when all of his family was in one room. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Craig and wife Ginger, and daughter Denise Chesney and husband Bill, all of Knoxville; grandchildren Erin Tucker and husband Matt of Antioch; Ashley Cross and husband Carter; Will Chesney and Ben Chesney, all of Knoxville; great-granddaughter Hannah Grace Tucker of Antioch; and several nieces and nephews. The family extends their thanks to the staff at Clarity Pointe in Farragut, for their outstanding care of Jim and their continued wonderful care of Jo. • HOPPER, Tammie (Theresa Ann Mary May),

64, of Knoxville went to be with the Lord on Monday evening, December 9, 2013 after a brave battle with a long illness. She was a member of Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and attended Saint John Neumann Church locally. She was active at the Fort Loudoun Yacht Club and Fox Den Country Club. Tammie really enjoyed life. First and foremost she was a loving mother and wife. She knew the meaning of true friendship and never met a stranger. Her wit and personality compelled everyone to automatically open up to her and reveal their life stories. Tammie was always the social director and livened up any party, Hootie Who! She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Harold May; mother, Helen Evelyn Shriver May. Survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 44 years, James (Pat) Hopper; son, Jay Hopper and wife, Janelle; daughter, Tracy Pearson and husband, Andy; five grandchildren, Evan, Jada, Annabelle, Emma and Haydn; seven nieces and five nephews. Tammie is also survived by her sister, Janie McCormick and husband, York McCormick of St. Albans, WV; mother-in-law, Evelyn Hopper of Nitro, WV; sister-in-law, Tudi Bowles of South Charleston, WV; brother-in-law, Bill Hopper of Rio Rancho, NM; and brother-in-law, John Hopper and wife Ann Marie of Aurora, CO. McFadden, Elisha William (Bill),

86, of Knoxville passed Nov. 9, 2013. Born in Paris, Tn, on Nov. 22,1926, to Hartman and Lucille McFadden, both dec-eased. Survived by wife of 63 years, Jean, children Debbie (Joe) Hardin, Pam McDowell, Greg McFadden, Tim McFadden, Sandy Owen, 9 Grandchildren, 7 Great-grandchildren, sister, Francis O’Dell, Sister-in-law Shirley Nielsen, many nieces, and nephews. Bill was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, devoted follower of Christ, lover of life, Sunday school teacher, was active member of his church. • WEIR, Donald E.,

84, of Athens, died Tuesday morning, October 22, 2013 at NHC of Athens. A native of Bradley County and longtime resident of Athens, he was a son of the late Rev. Roscoe and Lula Reno Weir and was also preceded in death by a brother and his wife Ray and Carlene Morrison Weir, and a sister-in-law, Mary Hollingsworth Sharp. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Athens for 60 years, where he sang in the church choir, taught a young boy’s Sunday School class, and served as a deacon for 45 years. He was a graduate of Tennessee Wesleyan College, East Tennessee State University, and he obtained his master’s degree in Education Supervision from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He was an honorary member of the Athens Rotary Club. He began his teaching career at McMinn County High School in 1954. He served at Assistant Principal at McMinn County High School and later as Principal. He then went to the Athens Jr. High School as principal in 1966 and served there until his retirement in 1991. He served in the Tennessee National Guard for nine years. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty Sharp Weir, of Athens; one daughter and son-in-law, Dauna Kay and Dr. Richard Sharpe of Athens, one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Eugene and Becky Greene Weir of Farragut, three granddaughters, Allison Kay Sharpe, Stephanie Rebecca Weir and Rebecca Leigh Weir; one grandson and his wife, Andrew Richard and Amanda Boyd Sharpe; one sister and brother-in-law, Betty Katherine and William B. Stephens of Oak Ridge; brother-in-law, Dr. Vance R. Sharp of Yahala, Fl.and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted, 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 26, 2013 in the Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jason Clark officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery with Military Honors at the graveside. The family will receive friends Saturday, from 11:30am-1:30pm at the funeral home prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Jerry Howell, Butch Smith, Ronnie Weir, Randall Kyker, Bill Bessom and Dr. John Offutt.
