Gallman to 5th Dist Dems: ‘fighting for my son ... falsely accused of attempted murder’

A Knox County mayoral candidate, who said at a 5th District Democrats’ meeting near Farragut Feb. 15 she was “fighting for my son ... falsely accused of attempted murder” in California, was arrested in Southern California last week, according to multiple media outlets.

Rhonda “Mousie” Gallman, a Democrat from East Knoxville, was arrested in Los Angeles Wednesday, March 7. She posted a $400,000 bond Monday, March 12.

Reportedly charged with preventing or dissuading a witness from testifying, Gallman proclaimed her innocence in a roughly hour-long Facebook post Monday night — adding she was not sure “how or if” her campaign would progress.

A former state representative candidate, Gallman reportedly posted several Facebook Live videos to her personal page the same day she was arrested, which apparently show her going to court to see her son, Jamahl. The Facebook Live video said her location was Compton, California.

During her address to 5th District Democrats, Gallman said, “There’s some things about me that are going to come out in the media.

“I have a son that’s in jail right now in California. He went up there to have a good time and bring in the New Year smoking pot.

“He’s been in trouble here in Knoxville for smoking pot. He decided to go to California to smoke pot legally,” she added.

“He is in jail under a $2.3 million bond. He is being falsely accused of attempted murder. ... I’m up there fighting for my son.

“And God showed me that He is using my son as a catalyst. ...”

Reports indicate a GoFundMe page was set up to help with Gallman’s travels expenses while visit ing Jamahl in California.
