Pleasant Forest Cemetery Living History

The rich history of Pleasant Forest Cemetery was brought to life through an inaugural living history event June 10, sponsored by Town of Farragut and Pleasant Forest Cemetery Board.

More than a dozen re-enactors portrayed specific individuals interred in the cemetery, from Tennessee’s second governor, Archibald Roane, and Revolutionary War soldier Thomas Boyd, to well-known Farragut historian William Cottrell and former Farragut school teacher Beulah Starkey — all of whom delivered short monologues about their lives.

The evening was well-received, with hundreds of spectators taking trollies from Farragut Town Hall to the cemetery and back.

Officials were so pleased with the turnout they said it may become an ongoing event every third-year.
