Concord Hills 10-year-old sets meet record in Girls 25y-Butterfly

Celebrating its high placing in Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center on the University of Tennessee campus Sunday afternoon, July 29, the Gators ended with five first-place event championships and 15 total top-three finishes.

“We had a great day today,” Village Green head coach Sarah Fortney said. “This was one of our biggest teams ever. We brought 140-plus swimmers to the meet.”

After preliminary rounds Friday and Saturday, July 27-28, “We had 94 kids come back with the potential to swim today,” she added. (No. 1 finishers listed later in story).

Two of three first-place crowns for Concord Hills Piranhas, which placed sixth overall (808) with 11 top three finishes, was courtesy of record-setting 10-year-old Aydan Skelton. Aydan set a meet record in 9-10 Girls 25-Yard Butterfly (13.63 seconds) while also winning 50-Freestyle (29.11).

Sugarwood Stingrays were close behind in eighth (726.50), having a pair of No. 1 event champions and 12 top-three finishes.

Fox Den Red Foxes finished 13th (639), with two No. 1 crowns and seven other top threes.

“Our team got excited and was ready to race,” Fox Den head coach Elizabeth Gitto said.
