Farragut Modern Dentistry ‘excited’ about new business

Farragut Modern Dentistry opened for business at 109 S. Campbell Station Road Tuesday, May 7. Making up the staff are, from left, Jacqueline Robinson, benefits coordinator; Briley Herring, registered dental assistant; Ashley Rogers, office manager; Dr. John “Spike” Harrison, D.D.S.; and Mary Beth Roark, dental hygenist.
A new dentist has made Farragut home for his practice.

Dr. John “Spike” Harrison opened Farragut Modern Dentistry, 109 S. Campbell Station Road adjacent to Starbucks, Tuesday, May 7.

“We’re real excited,” FMD office manager Ashley Rogers said.

The dentistry provides same-day crowns, pediatric dentistry and oral surgeries on site using brand-new technology, she said.

With the same-day crowns, Rogers said FMD does not send off the crowns to a lab.

“We can actually do it on site,” she said. “We don’t have to book you out a couple weeks. We can go ahead and get something done if you are ready to do that (on) that same day.”

Additionally, FMD provides periodontal disease care.

“We offer a hygiene protocol that includes (scaling and root planning), laser and irrigation — pretty much all,” Rogers said. “We can try to stop that periodontal disease from getting worse, where you have the bone loss and eventually lose your teeth.”

The oral surgeries might include wisdom teeth or any kind of extractions, as well as providing dentures and bridges.

“We’ll end up adding other services, such as (endodontics) and (periodontics) and possibly (orthodontics), down the road as (the practice) grows,” she said.

Rogers said Harrison chose the site because FMD tries to pick somewhere that has a good family demographic within about five miles.

Harrison, a Knoxville native and Knoxville Catholic High School graduate, worked in Colorado for a couple of years before deciding to transfer “home” to the Greater Knoxville area to be closer to family and open his own practice, Rogers said.

“Another thing that’s pretty nice, for patients who don’t have insurance, is we offer a $59 special for first-time patients,” she added.

“And if they do need more work, we do offer a discounted dental plan for people who don’t have insurance.”

The office’s hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mondays and Thursdays; from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesdays; from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesdays; from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Fridays; and closed Saturdays and Sundays.
