Dashes, distance runs fuel Lady Spartans’ track crown

CAK girls Division II-A runner-ups

MURFREESBORO — With an exceptionally strong showing in dash and distance running, Webb School of Knoxville and Christian Academy of Knoxville finished as champ and runner-up during TSSAA Division II-A Girls Track & Field State Meet Wednesday, May 22, at Middle Tennessee State University.

With six first-place individual and relay performances, the Lady Spartans captured the state crown with 140 points. The Lady Warriors were second with 104.

Three of the top four finishers in 1600 run were from Webb, led by champion Niki Narayani (5:13.24), runner-up Lindsay Holliday and Taylor Cosey in fourth. Holliday also finished fourth in 800 run.

Narayani also was top finisher in the 800 run (2:22.27) and 3200 (11:10.1), with Cosey and Holliday third and fourth respectively in the 3200. Olivia Rodgers of CAK took third in the 800.

Jasmine Jefferson of Webb won the 100 dash (12.39) and 400 dash (58.14) while second in the 200.

The Lady Spartans’ 4 X 800 relay team was champion (10:11.10).

Stephani Franks of Webb claimed second in pole vault (10-00.00); Lady Spartan Kai Lanier finished third in 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles

Christian Academy and Webb were top two in the 4 X 400 relay, led by CAK (4:04.43).

The Lady Warriors’ 4 X 200 relay captured first-place (1:44.86), followed by Webb in fourth.

CAK’s 4 X 100 relay team also grabbed first place (49.04).

Ariya Rice, CAK freshman, was champion in long jump (17-07.25), while finishing third in 400 dash and fifth in 200 dash.

Lady Warrior McKinley Blackburn, a junior, was second in 300 hurdles (47.59); Maya Weaver, CAK senior, was fourth in long jump and third in triple jump.
