MARYVILLE — Two District 4-AAA team champs and two individual medalists were all wearing Navy blue and gray, as Farragut’s girls and boys golf teams tamed Lambert Acres Golf Club Monday, Sept. 30.
Lexanne Halama, a junior, was girls medalist with an 18-hole 70 (2-under). Lance Simpson, a junior, earned boys medalist honors while also shooting 2-under.
Both team now earn a trip to the Monday, Oct. 7, Region 2-AAA showdown at Oak Ridge Country Club, with Jon Higgins’ Lady Admirals and his FHS boys both needing to win region to advance to the Class AAA state tournament later this month.
Along with Halama, junior Lindsay Ott’s third-place finish (76) were the scores that counted as Farragut’s 146 team total was eight strokes ahead of runner-up Maryville (154).
Aynsleigh Martin, a senior, place fourth overall (79).
“The course was in great shape. I felt the girls played extremely well, I’m proud of them,” Higgins, first year head coach, said.
A.J. Rinehart, a junior, finished fourth overall with a 70 (even par) as the Farragut boys ended with a 298, 16 stokes better than runner-up William Blount (314).
Senior Hayden Ott and freshman Sebastian Costales also contributed to the winning team score with a pair of 78s.
“I thought the boys played well as a team. Five guys shot under 80, which is really good,” Higgins said.
“We’ve been steadily building to be successful in tournament play.”
