Knox County Health Department director Dr. Martha Buchanan was a special guest of Farragut Board of Mayor and Aldermen during its electronic meeting Thursday, April 23, and answered questions about COVID-19 (See updated story beginning on page 1A).

Alderman Scott Meyer said he has been dealing with COVID-19 “24/7” as a member of the leadership team at Summit Medical Group — and as the spouse of a pediatrician. “If you have measles at one end — being very, very contagious — then the flu at the other end, where do you see the COVID virus landing?” he asked.

“... “We don’t have any immunity as humans because we have not seen the virus before,” she said. “... When one person has the flu, they can make one to two people sick; but someone who has COVID-19 is more likely to make five to seven other people sick.”
