April, 40 years ago, Farragut BOMA was born

Forty years ago this month, Farragut Board of Mayor and Aldermen was born: following an April 1, 1980, election, the first five-member BOMA held its first meeting less than a week later, April 7. Newly elected Mayor Robert “Bob” Leonard, seated center, is flanked by Aldermen George Dorsey, left, and Eddy Ford. Standing, left, are Aldermen Marianne McGill and Eric Johnson. Also pictured are Town interim recorder Millie McBride and Town attorney David Rodgers. Among these groundbreaking Farragut servants, farragutpress wishes to thank Ford (Mayor from 1993 into 2009 who served a record 29 years on BOMA), and McGill, who joined Johnson, Dorsey and Rodgers as members of the Town-founding Farragut Community Group, for their photo and document contributions to our 40-week Foundations series.
