‘Shop Local’ initiative at Blue Ridge Yoga

Blue Ridge Yoga & Wellness Center, 623 Campbell Station Road, is starting a new “Shop Local” initiative to help small businesses in the community.

“The new project, Knoxville Small Business Support, will help raise awareness for small Knoxville businesses starting in Farragut,” said Jessica Mishu, founder and creative director of Blue Ridge Yoga.

“The hope and intention of this project is for businesses to help other businesses through social media interactions and engagement,” she added. “We just want to support as many people as we can in our community.

“We’ve always been community-oriented. Up until now, our community orientation has been building a community from within, as well as giving to non-profits, but now, during this time of COVID, we feel like small business owners also need support from us.”

Every week, “Caitlyn (Phelps, studio manager,) and I will be going to a different small businesses and talk to their owners and their employees, highlighting what they’re doing to keep people safe, as well as their specials that they are offering so that we can give them a shout out,” Mishu said.

“Afterward, we have a virtual meet-up with our community at the location,” she added.

These visits will be broadcast on the business’ Facebook page, Phelps said.

“During the broadcast, the featured business will be highlighted along with their current specials and ways in which consumers can support that business during the pandemic,” she added.

“These interactions will create opportunities for small businesses to connect and for customers from both companies to be informed of the other.”

Additionally, Blue Ridge Yoga is collaborating with Shop Farragut/Farragut Business Alliance, which will help promote the meet-up events.

Businesses wanting to be featured can contact Blue Ridge Yoga at blueridgeyoga@gmail.com

“We would love for anyone who wants to be a part of this to reach out to us,” Mishu said.
