• First Horizon National Corp. recently promoted John Sergent with expanded banking center responsibilities. In addition to leading First Horizon’s banking centers in East, Northeast and Southeast Tennessee, Sergent also will lead community banking center teams in Sevier County, Cleveland, Cookeville, Greeneville, Morristown, Jackson and Western North Carolina.

• Papa Murphy’s Pizza locations in the Knoxville area have partnered with East Tennessee Children’s Hospital for a month-long fundraiser in August. All Papa Murphy’s Pizza’s Knoxville locations will donate 15 percent of all sales every Monday in August to the hospital to help relieve the “financial pain the COVID-19 pandemic has brought on children’s hospitals,” according to a press release.

• Integrity Laboratories of Knoxville recently announced the appoint-ment of Maria Cekanova, RNDr, Ph.D, to chief scientific officer. The announcement comes as the laboratory has seen unprecedented growth and expansion since receiving Emergency Use Authorization, issued by the Food and Drug Administration in April 2020, for its SARS-COV-2 laboratory developed test to detect individuals suspected of COVID-19 by their healthcare provider. Prior to joining Integrity Laboratories, Cekanova served as the director of Translational Research Laboratory and research associate professor of oncology at the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences, University of Tennessee.
