The Red Team’s 21-9 win versus the Blue Team capped the Inaugural Ladies 18-Hole Club Ryder Cup, featuring members of Fox Den Country Club, a two-day tournament with 24 golfers — 12 Red, 12 Blue — at the FDCC course Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 26-27.

A black cup with gold trim, which included a gold-plated inscription “Fox Den Country Club Ladies Ryder Cup Champion 2020,” was presented to Catherine Manning, Red Team captain, by Danny Ackermann, FDCC head PGA professional.

Individually, Red Team member Karen Jones provided added excitement by nailing a hole-in-one on No. 13 hole. “It was Ms. Jones’ fourth career hole-in-one,” said Debbie Siddons, a teammate of Jones and event spokeswoman.

The first day consisted of net best-ball play on the front nine holes, with scramble match play on the back nine. Day two was select drive/one net best-ball on the front nine and singles match play on the back side.

Each match win was worth one point, with a tie a ½ point.

“A great time was had by all who participated, and we look forward to next year’s competition,” Siddons said. “There were many close matches between the two teams.”

Manning and Kathy Jackson, Blue Team captain, chose teams according to golfer handicaps to create a balance of

talent.

A celebration luncheon inside FDCC concluded the event Aug. 27.
