Quartet of bands

Common Interest, Bonfire Blue, 9-8 Central, Mighty Blue highlight Fall Festival entertainment Oct. 4

In addition to a variety of food and other retail items for sale among 49 Town of Farragut and area vendors during inaugural Farragut Fall Festival this weekend, the afternoon/evening entertainment includes much variety.

The festivities, in old Kroger parking lot along Kingston Pike across from the southern entrance/exit to and from Farragut High School, run from 3 to 8 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 4.

Admission is free, though vendors will be selling their items.

Starting things off strong at 3 p.m. is the first of four local bands: Common Interest “is a rock-n-roll cover band made up of area high school students,” said Stephen Krempasky, executive director for Shop Farragut/Farragut Business Alliance, which is putting together this event in conjunction with Town of Farragut.

Next, at 4 p.m., is Bonfire Blue, “also a band of young players who were recently selected to represent the Smoky Mountain Blues Society at the prestigious International Blues Challenge in Memphis as their representative in the Youth Category,” Krempasky added.

Entertaining from 5 to 6:30 p.m. is “9-8 Central, a local four-piece band of seasoned professionals playing a wide variety of contemporary popular music,” the executive director said.

Closing strong, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., “is Mighty Blue, an award-winning area band that has excelled at many Blues Festivals and events, which included being the featured entertainment at the 2018 Taste of Farragut,” Krempasky said. “They will cover the American songbook, and folks can dance.”

COVID-19 prevention

In following with COVID-19 prevention measures, “We will ask people to wear masks and stay with their groups and social distance,” Krempasky said, adding event workers and vendors would maintain a disinfected environment. “Although we will have a tent, there won’t be as many tables and chairs.”
