• I have contacted all (Knox) County Commissioners, and I’m urging others to join with me in supporting our county’s Health Board in the midst of the COVID pandemic. I’m impressed with their professionalism and dedication to being impartial, not political, and just focusing on using real facts and science to decide what best helps keep Knox Countians safe and healthy. I do not trust turning this process over to politicians, who are more responsive to campaign donors and other special interest groups. Despite the expected uptick in COVID numbers owing to Labor Day activities, we are seeing a flattening of the curve. Unemployment numbers are dropping. We are making progress in Knox County, and I urge our County Commission to stay the current course and not support a political takeover of our county’s Health Board while we’re in the middle of this pandemic. Being frustrated is one thing, but let’s not compound the problem by muddying the waters with political influence over the healthcare of all Knox Countians.

• We had seen some information about calming islands on Grigsby Chapel Road. From our perspective, we really love the calming islands — it keeps people from speeding too much and drag racing a little bit. We just wanted to get a comment in that they’re great, and I appreciate the Town for putting them in.

• We oppose having apartments at the old Kroger place.
