Lewis, Scarlett re-unite: B’Savvy Hair Studio open Studio

After previously working together at a local salon, Savannah Lewis and Brittney Scarlett decided to partner in a salon of their own, B’Savvy Hair Studio, in Suite 17 of Saah Salon Suites at 102 Campbell Station Road.

The salon first opened its doors Tuesday, Dec. 1, providing hair cutting, coloring and balayage, a lightening technique that involves painting the hair.

“We also offer facial waxing and keratin treatments,” Lewis said.

“We were definitely nervous, but we’re excited, especially to be able to do what we love on our own time, especially with a 2-year-old,” Scarlett said, referring to her daughter.

“We worked together for about three years at Salon Biyoshi” prior to opening their business. “We actually shared a station at Salon Biyoshi for about a year and a half,” Lewis added. “Then the quarantine hit.”

The salon closed for a period of time, but she said when it re-opened and they returned to work, their schedules synced so they worked more together.

“We got to spend more time together and realized, ‘I really like you.’”

The two then began talking about owning their own business and found they had things in common.

“We both wanted a more laid-back atmosphere to work in,” Lewis said.

She noted the location at Saah Salon Suites allows them a more intimate setting and more flexibility with their schedules.

Having their own business also “brings our clients to an environment that they felt like they were at home,” Lewis said.

What sets B’Savvy apart from some other salons is “the experience of being able to be in your own space, in your own thoughts, with your stylist versus feeling like (the stylist’s) attention is in different places,” she said. “If you get into a high-volume salon, you feel like you’re on an assembly line and you don’t get all the attention that you deserve.”

“Here, it’s more personal because you don’t have to go to three other people to get to your stylist,” Scarlett added.

While Lewis said Scarlett brings organization and logic to the salon, Lewis said she likes to bring the fun touches.

“We’re very similar people, but at the same time, we have our strengths and our weaknesses,” she added.

B’Savvy is open Monday through Saturday and closed on Sunday. Lewis works from 3 to 9 p.m., Tuesdays; from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesdays; from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursdays; and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays.
