• At 4:45 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 27, two Knox County Sheriff’s Office units responded to a Watt Road address in reference to an assault. Victim-complainant informed officers he and the suspect got into a verbal altercation that escalated physically, and the suspect struck the victim in the face.

• At 3:19 a.m., Dec. 27, two KCSO units responded to reports of an accident with injury at South Campbell Station Road and Brooklawn Street. Upon arriving on scene officers witnessed the suspect/arrestee become combative with the Rural/Metro crew. Officers assisted Rural/Metro by attempting to place the arrestee in a wrist lock on his left wrist due to him having a Rural/Metro crew member in a leg lock. Once the arrestee was detained, officers could smell a strong odor of alcohol, and the arrestee had slurred speech while screaming and using profanity towards everyone around him. Arrestee refused to sit up, and when officers attempted to help him sit up he began to kick at the officers, kicking one officer multiple times in the back. Officers then picked up the arrestee and placed him in a county vehicle to be transported to jail. Arrestee verbally refused the Standardized Field Sobriety Test. Rural Metro crew and officer who was kicked multiple time said they did not want to press charges.

• At 7:36 a.m., Dec. 27, KCSO units responded to Hardee’s along North Campbell Station Road to assist AMR with a patient. Officers witnessed eventual arrestee lying in the floor refusing to give any information. Officers attempted to gain information from eventual arrestee, but were not successful. Eventual arrestee attempted to walk to the main entrance of the restaurant, but officers stopped him and attempted to place him in custody. Eventual arrestee resisted officers by attempting to keep his arms in front of him. Once in wrist restraints, arrestee attempted to keep officers from walking him to a cruiser. While officers attempted to pat down arrestee, he attempted to push off the cruiser and keep his feet together, refusing to comply with the pat down and refusing to enter the cruiser. Officers placed arrestee into the cruiser. He admitted to AMR he had taken drugs, and due to his intoxication and disturbance he created in Hardee’s he was deemed a danger to himself and others. Arrestee failed to supply identification until he arrived at the detention facility.
