Appalachian Underwriters celebrate milestone in Knoxville metro area
Appalachian Underwriters Inc. is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year with success and awards under its belt.
“We have been blessed to provide an array of insurance services to those locally and nationwide,” AUI president Bob Arowood said. “We may be one of the nation’s largest MGAs (Managing General Agents), but we started small and were focused on the individual and the community. That hasn’t changed.
“We are honored to be involved and affiliated with local charities and organizations and will continue to invest in the East Tennessee community,” he added.
The company, located at 800 Oak Ridge Turnpike in Jackson Plaza, Oak Ridge, provides an array of insurance, which include Workers’ Compensation, personal lines, brokerage, ccommercial lines and garage. “We can cover anything from your baseball card collection to homeowners to liability for an entire enterprise,” Arowood said.
As an MGA/wholesaler, “We provide multiple insurances to our appointed agents in order for them to give the best coverage at the best prices for their clients across the nation,” he said. “With that said, we do have sister companies that were birthed from AUI.
“Currently, there are nine other companies in the AUI Enterprise,” Arowood added.
“Aside from being able to offer insurance for just about anything, we can do it in a brand-new way. This spring, we are launching AUI Digital. This is an Internet-based wholesale platform — owned by Appalachian Underwriters Inc. — providing agents with the ability to search dozens of carrier/market appetites in a matter of seconds across commercial and personal lines.
“The agent will be bridged directly into the relevant carrier’s insurance application straight from our site,” Arowood said. “Where possible, we will help agents transact business through our carriers wherein they can submit, quote, bind and even pay for their customer’s insurance online in a matter of minutes,” he added.
