• Wells Fargo Advisors recently designated its senior vice president/investment officer Phil McCall and managing director of investments Bryan Mayo as members of the firm’s Premier Advisor Program. The distinction is held by a select group of Financial Advisors as measured by completion of education components, business production and professionalism, as well as length of service.

• Weichert, Realtors - Advantage Plus in Knoxville recently was named to the Weichert Real Estate Affiliates Inc. Premier Client Group for 2020. The Tennessee-based affiliate is one of 30 — out of more than 260 — companies from the Weichert national franchise network named to this group of real estate brokerages. The 30 PCG members are identified based on outstanding sales performance in 2020.

• Doug McCarty of McCarty Holsaple McCarty Architects Inc., recently was honored and elevated as an American Institute of Architects Fellow. He is Tennessee’s only architect to receive such recognition this year. AIA Fellows are recognized with its highest membership honor for their exceptional work and contributions to architecture and society.

• Tennova Turkey Creek Medical Center recently became the first hospital in East Tennessee to offer patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation, an alternative to long-term blood thinners, with the next-generation, left atrial appendage closure device. The one-time procedure might reduce the risk of stroke in people with AFib not caused by a heart valve problem. The Tennova Heart team successfully performed its first left atrial appendage closure implant with the new technology Jan.18,

• Pellissippi State Community College recently was designated a “Voter Friendly Campus.” The initiative recognizes colleges for planning and implementing practices that encouraged students to register to vote and to vote in elections. More than 230 campuses in 37 states and Washington, D.C., achieved the designation, which is valid through December 2022.
