‘All Out’ FMS fundraiser to spark outdoor spruce-up

Farragut Middle School Parent-Teacher Organization is going “All Out” with a campaign to raise funds to improve the school’s outdoor areas.

The PTO is holding an online Admiral Out fundraiser on a Givebutter campaign page.

With a goal of $15,000, the effort generated $2,465 donations from 41 supporters as of Monday morning, March 15.

“We are incredibly lucky to have such involved and committed parents,” FMS principal Weston Edmonds said. “Our Farragut community values education and is so generous when it comes to supporting all our schools.”

According to the online site for Admiral Out, its PTO is “asking all Farragut families who are able to make a donation supporting the Farragut Middle School PTO.”

“We are trying to make supporting school simple and ask for donations,” Edmonds said. “We have gotten a lot of feedback that parents prefer this to having to sell items or have high-pressure contests.”

“Funds raised will be used for outdoor improvements to Farragut Middle School,” the site stated. “FMS was built in 1984, and updates have been made to the interior of the building but not the exterior.”

The site stated the money would be used to create an outdoor classroom/pavilion and update existing areas — including picnic area, basketball courts and anchor garden.

“Space is always at a premium at FMS, and I think this school year has shown us how much we need more usable outdoor areas for our students to have educational opportunities, but also time to socialize and play,” Edmonds said.

“The main goal of the project is to create a covered outdoor learning and meeting space,” he added.

“Every dollar makes a difference, and all donations are tax-deductible,” the online site stated.

“The inside of FMS is full of wonderful students, staff and educational opportunities,” the site further stated. “We would like the ‘OUT’side of this ‘ADMIRAL’able school to reflect the inside.”
