From Florida to Ohio, top canine competitors coming for Dog Daze V; Pooch Plunge is back

Dog Daze V @ Village Green Shopping Center, presented by TDS Telecom, “will be a three-day festival of fun, food, shopping and competition,” a Shop Farragut/Farragut Business Alliance press release stated about this free-of-charge event.

The Alliance has teamed up with Town of Farragut, Smoky Mountain Dock Dogs (http://www.smokymountaindockdogs.com/) and Ricki’s Pet Depot (http://rickispetdepot.com/) to once again bring a nationally sanctioned regional canine aquatics competition by Dogs Dogs International (http://dockdogs.com/) to Farragut.

Festivities will take place in Village Green Shopping Center parking lot, just south of Planet Fitness, from Friday afternoon, Aug. 13, through Sunday evening, Aug. 15.

“We expect teams from as far away as Ohio and Florida to compete throughout the weekend,” SMDD president Kaye Noble stated. “Our Farragut event has become a premier stop for many of the serious Dock Diving Dog Teams. In fact, all event registrations are now sold out.

“Competitors love coming to the Dog Daze at Village Green event because of the atmosphere of the crowd, the local food trucks and the level of competition this event brings,” the Alliance press release stated. “There will be over 400 jumps with 150 competitors.

“Smoky Mountain DockDogs will also conduct a silent auction which will benefit the B.A.A.R.K. foundation, This is an organization that helps the DockDogs community in their time of need.”

Festivities will start from 4 to 7 p.m., Aug. 13, with local dogs taking a “Pooch Plunge,” an annual non-competitive event intended to introduce local dogs and their owners to the event. “Area dog owners will have the opportunity to have their ‘puppy’ try a Dock-Dive,” the Alliance press release stated.

Actual competitions will begin at 10 a.m., Aug. 14, and run through late afternoon, Aug. 15. (See detailed schedule in next week’s farragutpress)
