• We don’t understand the contributor to the Jan. 20 Presstalk. Why are they concerned about the Choto area? We in Choto do not want to be taken in by Farragut. There is more to life than the growth of a town. Also, they should know that there are more than two ways out of Choto; we use roads that avoid Farragut: Northshore (Drive) takes us to Knoxville or Maryville; Martel takes us to Lenoir City, where we really like to shop and go out to eat.

We pay the same County taxes for the schools as do the Farragut citizens. And being a part of Farragut is not a requirement to attend Farragut High School. So to whoever, please don’t nose into our business. Let us live peacefully.

• I haven’t got the (farragutpress) yet — I will. A friend of mine called and said there was a (Jan. 20 Presstalk, where a caller) wanted to annex the Choto-Northshore (area). They tried to do that once before; and I don’t know who ... wants to be in Farragut. If they want to be in Farragut, they need to buy a house in Farragut. ... I don’t want to do any business in Farragut if I can help it.

• Masks mask masks … Will this ever end??? I thought masks were supposed to keep us from getting sick, but they have not been and we got out of school because of coronavirus. I think that wearing a mask should be an option for families. I think that the purpose of schools should be learning about reading, math and other important subjects and not worrying about masks. I recently went to a school board meeting and it lasted a few hours, and most of the meeting was talking about masks. They did spend some time talking about how money would be spent on us in our classes, and I think they should have spent more time talking about how to help us and our teachers in the classroom. I have to wear a mask for eight hours a day. It’s very annoying and I wish we could just focus on learning. I hate this topic has divided so many people. Some people think masks should be required and some don’t think they need to be required. I wish it was up to each family.
