The Farragut Table closes

Despite offering a wide-ranging menu and cultivating “a wonderful family of customers,” The Farragut Table has closed.

Katy Bagdon, who owns the restaurant with her husband, Ken, made the announcement late last week.

“We’ve had great staff, but I just couldn’t compete with big box employers,” she said. “I don’t blame them for moving on, but I can’t run the restaurant by myself.”

However, that is exactly what she did manage during The Farragut Table’s last weeks’ of operation. “I’ve got six kids at home,” Bagdon added. “This is not where I saw myself two and a half years ago.”

The couple bought the restaurant, formerly known as Mario’s, from then-owners Janet and Randy Bulmon in November 2019. The Bagdons moved their family to the area from Chattanooga and within six months had rebranded the restaurant “The Farragut Table.”

Even as COVID-19 raged, Katy made the restaurant her own. She continued to offer

pizzas and other Italian fare but added burgers, specialty sandwiches and desserts and the couple even added a line of alcoholic beverages last year.

“We got the opportunity to change up the menu, and I got to see it become all that I dreamed it could be,” Katy said. “We were able to get involved in the community, and met some really great people.

“The Town was very supportive of us, too.”

She said they began the process of closing a couple of months ago. They signed a five-year lease, so Katy is hoping someone comes along to take it over soon.

“But I want to thank everyone for their help and support, and I want to thank all of our regular customers,” she said. “We are very grateful. Even though we have had to close,

overall, it has been a good experience. I just know now there will be another chapter

for me.”
