Incumbent campaign signs taken to task

This week in the Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting on June 23, Agenda item 6K refers to: “Request to allow temporary signs on Town of Farragut public property and rights-of-way.”

Enclosed I have included (as e-mailed to farragutpress, but not published) Farragut Mayor Ron Williams and North Side Alderman Scott Meyer’s campaign signs that are in the right-of-way in the Town of Farragut.

The packet for the BOMA June 23 meeting includes nine pages of Farragut code regarding temporary signs.

In this it states the Farragut Town administrator David Smoak shall act as the “sign administrator.”

This agenda item is brought forth by candidate for South Side Alderman David White.

David’s question is, “why can Mayor Ron Williams and North Side Alderman Scott Meyer place campaign signs in the right-of-way and other candidates for Town of Farragut election have their sign removed by the Town of Farragut?”
