Celebrating growth

Knox County welcomes Bechtel National’s new Engineering Execution Center

Bechtel National, an engineering, construction and project management partner to industry and government, cut the ribbon on a new Engineering Execution Center, 410 N. Cedar Bluff Road, on Monday, Oct. 2.

Along with the ribbon cutting, Bechtel also hosted local Robotics teams, giving them the opportunity to show off their robots to Bechtel engineers.

The new engineering office will support Bechtel’s work executing complex, precise, mission-based projects, according to a press release from the firm.

“Bechtel has already started recruiting local engineers,” the press release stated.

“Interested candidates are encouraged to visit for more information on available positions.”

“We are happy to have Bechtel bring more jobs to Knoxville, but more importantly great career paths,” Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs said. “Bechtel has a long history in Tennessee, from supporting nuclear energy to environmental cleanup and national defense and security.

“We are excited to continue this Tennessee partnership here in Knox County,” he added. “Having a well-established and trusted company like Bechtel join our local businesses is going to serve our community well.

“I look forward to hearing more about the exciting and challenging accomplishments coming from the new Bechtel office over the next 125 years.”

“The state of Tennessee has long been a home to Bechtel,” stated John Howanitz, president of Bechtel Nuclear, Security and Environmental business.

“We have partnered with customers across the state to build nuclear power plants, advance the Y-12 National Security mission and support the nation’s top aeronautical design research at Arnold Air Force Base,” he added.

“Establishing Bechtel’s Engineering Execution Center in Tennessee was an easy decision. We look forward to deepening our relationships with communities and local businesses across Tennessee and recruiting incredible engineering talent across the region.”

Earlier this year, Tennessee General Assembly’s Senate acknowledged Bechtel’s long partnership with the state by issuing a proclamation recognizing Bechtel’s 125th anniversary.

Bechtel will maintain its existing offices in the United States and internationally, including the Bechtel office in Oak Ridge.
