Big plays late lacking for FHS boys: Burris

JOHNSON CITY — Close losses as a result of “not doing the things with need to do to win” in the fourth quarter — a big problem in this young season according to Farragut head coach JP Burris — again saw his Farragut Admirals lose two tight contests during the Roundball Classic Friday and Saturday, Dec. 8-9.

Playing “a tough schedule” through 10 games, according to Burris, had FHS sporting a 3-7 record to begin this week.

Falling in a tight one to Morristown East 64-62 Friday, Farragut then lost to Independence High of Charlotte 67-60 Saturday.

“We’re not getting the stop here, or the loose ball there. ... We’re not doing enough little things to pull out wins in these close games against good teams,” Burris said. “That’s on me to make sure we fix that.”

Against East, junior wing Dominic VanAcker led FHS in scoring with 27 points.
