Town’s first Kid Try-Athlon
Farragut Parks & Recreation will host the Town’s first Farragut’s Kid Try-Athlon, from 8 to 10 a.m., Saturday, June 7, in McFee Park.
“This high-energy, non-competitive event invites children ages 3 (through) 6 and 7 (through) 10 to bike, run and splash their way to the finish line in a fun and safe environment designed just for them,” a Town press release stated.
“Farragut’s Kid Try-Athlon introduces young participants to the excitement of a triathlon, minus the swimming. Instead, children will navigate water obstacles on their way to a photo finish,” the release further stated. “The event focuses on participation and enjoyment rather than competition.”
Event distances vary by age group:
Bike Ride: ½ mile (ages 3 through 6); 1 mile (ages 7 through 10). Run/Walk: ¼ mile (ages 3 through 6); ½ mile (ages 7 through 10).
Children in the 3-to-6 age group must be accompanied by a parent or guardian on the course.
Registration fee is $20 per participant (includes T-shirt and medal for each child). Pre-registration is required. Deadline to register is Friday, May 23. Families can register online at townoffarragut.org/register.
